We are still recovering from the despicable incident of last Friday, where our peaceful community was shaken to its core. A group driven by extreme racial hatred marred the streets of our beloved city’s historical center unleashing a torrent of violence and fear. Specifically targeting immigrants and their businesses, they caused major damages, encompassing both physical harm to individuals and widespread arson affecting numerous buildings.
Limassol remains in a state of shock, struggling to come to terms with this outbreak of violence spurred by nothing more than pure, baseless hatred. The actions of a few do not define us, but rather reinforce our commitment to stand together against hatred and division.
Yet, amidst this darkness, a silver lining emerged, manifesting the resilience and compassion inherent in our community. In the wake of the violence, numerous anti-fascist protests burgeoned across the city, each gathering even more people than the initial hateful demonstration. Beyond the streets, the community rallied online, orchestrating successful fundraising campaigns to aid the immigrants whose stores were destroyed. Notably, one campaign amassed a remarkable sum exceeding 160,000 EUR, a stirring testament to the generosity and unity prevailing in our society. These collective actions, grounded in solidarity and empathy, embody the true spirit of Limassol, bearing powerful witness to the enduring truth that, ultimately, love always wins.
We, at Royal Pine, strongly condemn this repulsive display of racism against immigrants. As a company grounded in principles of unity, inclusivity, and non-discrimination, we cannot stand idly by when such actions threaten our shared values. Our commitment extends beyond the boundaries of our business, fostering a culture that respects and celebrates all individuals, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion.
