Access To The UBO Register By The General Public

1 minute

Following the enforcement of the Register of Beneficial Owners of Cyprus companies (Register) in March 2021, this will become available to the general public from 1 June 2022. Up to this point, access to the Register was only available to competent and law enforcement authorities, the Cyprus Police, the Central Bank of Cyprus and the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Registrar of Companies, the authority responsible for the maintenance of the Register, has announced that parties interested on beneficial owner information must submit a written application and pay a fixed fee of €3.50 per company/partnership.

The general public will have access to information of any natural person holding (directly or indirectly) 25% plus one of the shares, voting rights or ownership interest in any Cyprus company/partnership. Interested parties will have access to:

  1. name,
  2. month and year of birth,
  3. citizenship,
  4. country of residence, and
  5. nature and extent of the beneficial interest held.
